The Competition Commision of Brunei Darussalam received a three-day training from Dr. Hassan Qaqaya, the former head of the Competition and Consumer Policies Branch, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, from the 10 – 12 August 2017 at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The training marks the beginning of the institutional building efforts of the Commission and the Competition and Consumer Affairs Department to prepare themselves to effectively implement and enforce the Competition Order 2015.


The training is specifically designed to help the newly established Commission and the Department to understand the key substantive aspects in the implementation and enforcement of competition law including the key prohibitions, exemption decisions, the role of the Commission, handling of public interest issues, advocacy and the strategies for the investigation and detection of unlawful agreements.
