The Chairman of the Competition Commission of Brunei Darussalam (CCBD), YM Dato Paduka Eddie bin Dato Paduka Haji Sunny and member of CCBD, YM Awang Haji Abdullah Soefri bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin attended a series of competition laws and policies events in Singapore:

 

1. The Competition Commission of Singapore – Singapore Academy of Law (CCS-SAL) Competition Law Conference, 16 August 2017

The Conference brought together over 200 practitioners, academics, business professionals, government officials, including senior officials from the competition authorities in ASEAN to discuss on the on competition issues in the new digital economy, including challenges to traditional business models with the advent of disrupters, regulatory sandboxes and design of competitive markets, big data and designing remedies in markets where competition concerns are identified.

2. Roundtable Discussion on E-commerce and Competition in ASEAN, 17 August 2017

A meeting between Heads/Senior Leaders of ASEAN competition authorities was also held to share experiences and challenges in handling E-commerce related competition cases in our respective jurisdictions, and discuss potential areas for cooperation among ASEAN competition authorities in the area of E-commerce.

3. International Competition Network (ICN) Heads of Agencies Workshop, 18 August 2017

The workshop was aimed to discuss on the due process and transparency of the Competition Agencies.

 

The CCBD also took the opportunity to pay a courtesy call to the CCS to have a candid dialog on the implementation and enforcement of competition law.
