Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean

Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean is a Member of Competition Commission Brunei Darussalam. She is currently also holding the position of Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Global Affairs) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. 


She received her PhD Economics from University of Queensland, where she majored in Labour Economics and Econometrics. Her research interests are in applied economics and economics policy. Much of her work have been on economics policies that have an impact on economic growth and productivity. She is the first Bruneian Econometrician in the country where her expertise involving Input-Output Model and Multinomial Logit modeling techniques. 


Her publication includes an economics book that she co-edited with her colleagues entitled “Small Economies, Global Economics”.


Dr Teo is one of the senior economists in the country. Her specialization extends to issues pertinent to international trade relations especially on Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) where her professional appointments include Member of APEC HRD Working Group (Capacity Building Network), and also Country Representative for projects involving ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), East Asia Free Trade Area (EAFTA), and Comprehensive Economic Partnership for East Asia (CEPEA), etc. 


She is also a resource person to a number of economics projects including youth employment, transportation and communications, international trade, SMEs, HRD and Economic Growth.
