Dr Dayang Hajah May Fa'ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin

Permanent Secretary (Economy), Ministry of Finance and Economy

Dr Hajah May Fa'ezah graduated with a First Class B.A degree in Economics and English Language in 1998 from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). She was awarded Master of Science degree in Economics from University of Warwick, UK in 2000 and PhD in Economics, University of Kent at Canterbury, UK in 2009.

She began her career as a Tutor in Economics at UBD. In 2002, she joined the Department of Economic Planning and Development at the Prime Minister's Office as Senior Economic Officer and in 2011, was promoted to Director General. She was then appointed as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C. for 1 year prior to her appointment as Deputy Permanent Secretary (Economy and Finance) at the Prime Minister's Office in November 2015.

Since 20 September 2018, she now holds the position of Permanent Secretary (Economy) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. Among others, her portfolio includes trade promotion and facilitation, Public-Private partnership (PPP) initiatives, national statistics and research at the Ministry.

She is also member to various Board of Directors including Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry (AITI), P Cube Sdn Bhd and others. Her appointment as a Commissioner to the Competition Commission Brunei Darussalam began in 2018.

She is married to Mahri Latif and blessed with 3 children.
