Hajah Nor Hashimah binti Haji Mohd Taib

Hjh Nor Hashimah Hj Mohd Taib qualified as a Barrister -at- Law in 1992 and started her career in law at the Attorney General's Chambers that same year.   Since then she raised through the ranks at the Attorney General's Chambers with her last post being Assistant Solicitor General.  

Her scope of work at the Attorney General's Chambers varied, covering prosecutions, legal advisory, litigation and preparation and negotiations of legal documents.  She was appointed as a member of the ASEAN High Level Legal Experts Group (HLEG) on Follow Up to the ASEAN Charter, as part of the initiative to look into the legal aspects of the ASEAN Charter.  She was also part of the Brunei Darussalam negotiating team for international trade agreements, in particular the Brunei Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (BJEPA), the ASEAN Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (AJCEP); Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement; CP-TPP; as well as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). 

Besides her experience in international law she also has extensive experience in public law, alternative dispute resolution, commercial law, intellectual property and Islamic Banking and Finance.  From 2011 till 2020, she was appointed as a Council member to the Law Society Brunei Darussalam as the Attorney General's representative.

By consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam she was promoted to Deputy Permanent Secretary (Security, Enforcement & Law) at the Prime Minister's Office, effective 2 May 2020.

She is a proud of mother of 4 boys and 4 girls and enjoys reading, running and hiking.
